I'm so glad you're here.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), I'm ready to work with individuals and families (ages 5 and up).

When working with me you can expect me to be empathetic, genuine, and nurturing. I am invested in creating sustainable solutions that work for your life and prioritize your goals. Need someone to work with a care team or schools? You can count on me to provide collaborative care to best fit your needs. My training will provide you with a holistic and family-focused approach to your care.

I specialize in working with people in the "family-building phase of life". I'm trained in perinatal mental health and adoption/foster care. My other areas of focus include working with folks who identify as twice exceptional, anxious, or who have experienced trauma.

When working with clients, I always focus on building the relationship first. It’s essential that people seeking services feel liked, accepted, and understood. I try to put people at ease by taking a genuine interest in who people are, what they are passionate about, and being ready to learn from them. My approach to therapy is being a co-traveler with you at this stage in your life. I don’t want clients to feel I am above them, but rather walking alongside them. Sometimes my job is to help you find the answers in yourself. As someone who knows what it is like to be on the other side of the room seeking help, I consider it a privilege to be able to hear clients’ stories and help them navigate whatever struggles have brought them into my office.

I am trained as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). I have worked with families, caregivers, and young adults across a variety of settings. Prior to joining Lake and Valley Family Therapy, I worked as a Multisystemic Family Therapist with teenagers (12-17 years old) who had high-risk behaviors. Multisystemic Therapy (MST) works with a youth’s whole community, including parents, siblings, teachers, neighbors, mental health providers, and other invested stakeholders. I am skilled in coordinating services with other providers and partnering with parents to help make changes in their environment to enhance their relationship with their child and help everyone to thrive. My collaborative and client-centered approach to therapy readily connects to both individuals and families. I look forward to meeting you where you are at on your own journey to healing.

Life can be tough - and we are not meant to go through life alone! Many of the individuals that I work with feel like they have gotten to a place where they feel overwhelmed and need a space to process this stress with someone other than friends or a partner. These folks typically include students (from undergraduates to the doctoral level), parents of young children, individuals in high-stress jobs (educators, healthcare professionals, attorneys, etc.), and people who are exploring their own identity. I enjoy working with people 18+ in an individual setting to help reconnect with their most authentic selves.

Folks come to me for a wide variety of reasons, but these often include anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress, grief and loss, family of origin concerns, self-esteem concerns, eating and body image concerns, relationship concerns, and gender identity and sexual orientation. I enjoy taking the time to understand each person's narrative, as well as exploring how a person's past may influence their current lens of themselves and the world.

I am licensed to provide telehealth services in the states of Minnesota and Florida.

Hello and welcome!

Beginning or reengaging in the process of therapy takes much courage, and it may be accompanied by many feelings, including those of hope, apprehension and fear. It is a great honor to be invited to join alongside the healing and growth process. Therapy It is an opportunity to explore, process, build skills, and celebrate. I use a person-centered and strengths-based approach; you are the expert and author of your story. In our collaboration, I will demonstrate respect, honor your decisions and values, provide a space to carry hope, celebrate growth and strengths, and ask the hard questions to explore and challenge maladaptive patterns to support your goals. I believe every person is capable of growth, healing, and change, and to be invited along on this journey is an incredible privilege.

I am ready to support individuals (5+) and families with issues such as life transitions, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, identity issues, stress in interpersonal relationships, and trauma.

Welcome!

I have always been taught that the key aspect of good therapy is building a healthy therapeutic relationship and understanding with each other. You can expect me to constantly be checking in with you and asking what your goals are for our sessions. You can rest assured that I strive for making you feel comfortable and respected in sharing anything and everything you deem important. I enjoy getting to know you!

As each individual is unique, I take a very patient-centered approach utilizing motivational interviewing, a social learning framework, and cognitive treatment mixed with other modalities to help us explore your various needs. It can be hard to explore orexpress ourselves, so I try to help make that journey a little bit easier, be it through casual conversation, psychoeducation, artistic exploration, skills building, or play. Therapy isn't all fun and games, but some of it aught to be!
